After 9 years of anticipation, this new landmark in the middle of Times Square, New York is finally complete. Both John Choi and Tai Ropiha were in New York to be part of the opening ceremony held by Mayor Bloomberg on 16th October 2008. More >>

Green Square Library and Community Buildings
Choi Ropiha have collaborated with McGregor+Partners to establish a Concept Framework for Community Buildings in Green Square Town Centre. The scope include a new entrance to Green Square Station, a multi-program library building, and a community hub building. The Concept Framework has successfully completed Public Consultation Phase. 2008 About Face Competition - Highly Commended
Choi Ropiha was awarded 'High Commendation' in the 2008 About Face Design Competition funded by Think Brick Australia. The brief was to investigate innovation in brick with public building and public space as the program. Our submission took Sydney's CBD laneways as grounds for design research.

2008 RAIA NSW Award - Small Building Category
Our Transgrid Ventilation shaft was recently given an Architecture Award in its category by the NSW Chapter of the Australian Institute of Architects. The jury reports "the project imbues a sense of finesse and quality that would otherwise be unexpected for a structure of this type”. It now goes forward to the National Awards. Fingers crossed. Mona Vale House - Do It Green
The Mona Vale House was featured on Channel 9's
'Do It Green' program. The house's hydronic solar hot water and PV satisfy all heating and 40% of the power requirements whilst a system of water tanks make the house water self sufficient. The house can be visited via upcoming Australian Architecture Association's Tour of Northern Beaches Houses. More >>

Cranium Hair Salon
Choi Ropiha has just finished full renovations to the Manly's landmark hair salon, Cranium. The design has a combination of 'fishscale' pressed metal cladding, custom fabricated cutting stations and 'chain' space dividers to organise the salon. It was completed in a super tight program, thanks to the skills and dedication of the construction team led by Paul Gray of Graybuilt. More >>

Manly Cove Duplex
The recently completed Manly Cove Duplex manages the
insertion of two luxury private dwellings onto a highly constrained small site. The planning strategy gives each dwelling its own street address, its own garage and its own private garden, whilst the sectional arrangement maximises views over Little Manly Cove to the south while bringing sun into living areas from the north. On the Drawing Board
Projects currently on the drawing board include a luxury duplex at Queenscliff, a high environmental performance commercial/retail development, the second stage submission for Manly Triangle Competition and a range of residential projects of varying scale across Sydney in Mosman, Cremorne Point, Mona Vale, and North Narrabeen.
