Choi Ropiha work across a diverse range of architectural and urban projects from shade structures to city master plans. This first issue coincides with the launch of our new website. TKTS Ticket Booth, Times Square, New York
This much anticipated project is nearing completion and is already attracting both popular and critical attention. It recently received the New York Art Commission Award and has starred in the feature film 'I am Legend'. Live progress can be seen on Earthcam. More >>

Sydney Future Visions Exhibition
Choi Ropiha is one of six emerging architectural practices invited to propose visions and speculations for a future Sydney as part of the RAIA National Conference ‘CV08: Critical Visions’. The proposed visions will be on exhibition at Customs House from 19 March - 13 April. John Choi will join a distinguished panel of speakers to present these ideas at the Conference on 10 - 12 April. Elysium, Noosa
Choi Ropiha have been commissioned to design two residences for the Stage 3 of the Elysium development. Elysium offers individually designed houses by established and emerging Australian architects and will be the largest single collection of contemporary Australian residential architecture. More >>

McDonald's 'Restaurant of the Future'
Choi Ropiha is collaborating with branding agency - The One Centre, interior designer - Giant and landscape architect - McGregor & Partners in designing the Restaurant of the Future for McDonald's. The Restaurant will be the ‘prototype' design for the next generation of restaurants for McDonald's Australia. More >>

Mona Vale House
The Mona Vale House is designed to respond to our Client's brief for a contemporary beach house with best practice environmental initiatives. Driven by client's interest in active environmental systems, the house will serve as a 'test bed' for these systems with the performance of these systems being measured after occupancy. More >>

Binhai New City Master Plan
In 2005, Choi Ropiha joined Kann Finch and the Waterman Group in the international competition for Binhai New City Master Plan. The project involves the planning of a city for 3 million people within a region that is anticipated to be the 'new engine of growth' for China. The team under the direction of the Waterman Group has moved onto develop a number of master plans in this region. More >>

Ballast Point Amenities & Shade Structures
The construction of Sydney's latest harbourside park Ballast Point Park in Balmain has started. Choi Ropiha has designed two amenities blocks and shade structures for the park designed by
McGregor & Partners. More >>

Gardens by the Bay, Singapore
Choi Ropiha as part of EDAW's bid team, provided architectural designs for the Gardens by the Bay Competition in Singapore. The collaboration led to a concept which blurred the boundary between architecture, landscape and infrastructure. Museums, housing, gallery, 'coolhaus', research centres and restaurants were intertwined with tropical gardens, parks and bay walks. More >>

Transgrid Ventilation Shaft
Choi Ropiha tackled the difficult challenge of introducing an unwanted engineering structure in an existing park setting with this project. Our approach was to retain the natural form of the shaft but to detail the shaft in a manner that imbues the object with a sense of finesse and quality that would otherwise be unexpected for a structure of this type. ISAR wins MBA Award
ISAR apartments designed in association with Southmarc, and constructed by Buildform received the Master Builders Association's 2007 Award for Best Home Units Under $250,000. The project was also finalist in the 2007 HIA NSW Apartment Project of the Year and Most Innovative Use of Steel. More >>
